Readers of all ages will explore all things scientific this summer as the Schulenburg Public Library presents “LIBRARIES ROCK” during their Summer Library Program. Activities will include a marionette show entitled, “Sleeping Beauty and the Handsome Prince”, reptiles, live animals, puppet shows and much more. The purpose of this program is to encourage the youth of our community to check out and read books from the Schulenburg Public Library. The 2018 Summer Reading program is for the following age groups, Read-to-Me (infant to 4 years old) - A Parent or guardian is required to read 15 picture books to them. Age 10-12 - The child is required to read 10 chapter books.
Everyone is invited to come meet John O’Bryant-Magician from San Antonio, Texas. At 10AM, he will have an hour performance, “Reading Magic Show”.
Buzz on by the library to meet Michael Kelling from Central Texas Bee Association, Brenham, Texas and see “The World of Bees” with LIVE BEES in the library at 10:30AM.
Come meet Beverly Johnson from DBJ Ranch, Giddings Texas and her Llamas. Stay for a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Enjoy carolers. There will be a "Christmas Boutique" offering seasonal art, crafts and food items. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

The Schulenburg Public Library welcomes German author, Barbara Ortwein. She will present her books and invites you to a sing-a-long as she plays her guitar!
Barbara will play the guitar and sing songs that go with the passages she reads. The public is invited to the book presentation and signing.
Betty Yoakum from Fayetteville, Texas visits the library with her beautiful, yellow headed, Amazon Parrot, Tookie.
Come meet Beverly Johnson from DBJ Ranch, Giddings, Texas and her llamas Smiling Jack, Wild and Sweet. Beverly Johnson will present a Christmas Program for all ages.
Circus Chicken Dog from Austin, Texas presents six rescued dogs, a talking and singing scarlet Macaw, juggling, clowning, and much more. Come join the fun at 10:30 AM.
Storybook Theatre from New Braunfels, Texas will present "Two Pigs and T.H.E. Wolf."
Cowboy Music, Roping and Reading featuring Mike Stroup, Bad Bob and Roper Bob presented by F-A-M-E.
The Dell Children's Medical Center and Ascension Texas Medical Response Unit will be at the Schulenburg Public Library to present information on evidence-based health care decisions.
Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A MATTER OF BALANCE is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

Community Action of Central Texas will be hosting a GED information session at the Schulenburg Public Library, Saturday, April 1 from 9 to 11 30.
The HAP rehabilitates and reconstructs eligible homes damaged by Hurricane Harvey. • If you own a single family home that was damaged by Hurricane Harvey you may be eligible for HAP funds. Homes must have been owned and occupied at the time of the disaster. • There is no minimum damage amount, but the home must have damage from Harvey to be eligible for assistance. • There is no cost to apply or to receive assistance. Homeowners will sign a 3-year unsecured, forgivable promissory note. • If a home has less than $65,000 of damage it may qualify for rehabilitation; if more than $65,000, reconstruction. • Awards are made on a first eligible, first served basis. • Homeowners must relocate themselves and their belongings during the 90-120 day construction period.
